1851 – John Marbold’s Vision
March 5, 7-8PM
Join us for a special Pint Talk at Hand of Fate Brewing Company as we journey back to 1851 and explore John Marbold’s remarkable vision for what would become one of central Illinois’ most notable historic homes.
We’re excited to welcome Barbara VanDyke-Brown, President of the Historic Marbold Farmstead Association, as she shares the story of Elmwood, the Marbold family home in Greenview, IL; its origins, its legacy, and the efforts to preserve this extraordinary piece of local history.
Whether you’re a history fan, a local heritage supporter, or simply love a good story with your pint, this is a night you won’t want to miss. Bring your friends, enjoy some handcrafted brews, and step into the remarkable world of the Marbold family!
All are welcome; come for the beer, stay for the history!
John Marbold, a German immigrant and prominent Greenview farmer and businessman, built the original 1850 home known as Elmwood as the central hub of his expansive, self‑sufficient farmstead; laying the foundation for what became one of central Illinois’ most notable historic homes.
